Tackling the new-wave of mental patients

We have a new wave of mental patients, and there is a second, third, and a forth wave to come. So how will health carers tackle the post viral pandemic dilemma? The experts inform us (UK) we have an epidemic of young people suffering with psychological problems. Ironically the advice comes from the very device that is tearing the public’s brain to shreds- media overdose!

The UK, especially in the south, has rising figures of stabbings and knife attack related deaths spreading terror on our streets; speak to youngsters living in these high-risk London boroughs and you’ll find most of them are tooled-up – carrying a weapon. Repeating news bulletins showing graphic images of violence besiege the TV channels and social media networks 24 hours a day. We used to enjoy family soap operas with plots about every day life with likable characters and some humour, but now they are dark and negative programs with plots that highlight knife stabbings, shootings, bullying, kidnapping, and racism. These soap operas illuminate, almost promote, the dark-side of what goes on in our society. And when you have watched your soap opera that has just tackled a fire-breathing beasts of a subject like domestic abuse, leaving you tingling with negative energy, they put a charity/ society you can get in touch with if you are experiencing difficulties in those areas. Decades back, before internet and social networking, youngsters were shielded from such atrocities that nowadays smack them in the face from the moment they hop out of bed.

2020 has delivered us the coronavirus pandemic, flooding out shores with media dominance that has taken over our very existence. Life will not return to the way of 2019. Many of us have lost family members to this invisible reptile that crushes the very breath out of stricken virus victims. Yes, the life we knew, for infant children and grandparents, is a distant memory. When mankind steps out of the aftermath of the pandemic and tries to pick up the pieces of his life he will appreciate the outdoors, nature and her plants, blue skies and the planets with their accompanying star lights. He will cuddle his young more often and a little bit tighter. Many people will not be able to mentally recover from this global catastrophe and they will need professional help – bearing in mind the very people qualified to treat these mental issues are only human themselves.

Perhaps the answer is that you and I are the best people to treat our mental issues. No one else can see our memories feel our pain and understand how we arrived at the crossroads we now stand at.

The tips I give below are not end-of-all-your-trouble tips but there are some ideas to help to stop you falling deeper and deeper into depressive states.

1) Watch only one news program a day.

2) Newspapers  report the same news as TV channels. Why not read a great novel instead of the newspaper. You can catch up on all the news in a weekend newspaper/magazine.

3) Soap opera plots are totally unrealistic and needlessly negative – you would do yourself a favour by switching them off!

4) Why not learn to meditate. Find a private hideaway at home or at work, gently close you eyes and allow your breathing to slow down. Now watch your thoughts as they come and go and try to remain aloof and dispassionate. If you are not used to meditating it will take you a while to get into it, but it will be well worth your effort.

5) Go for a walk with nature. Pick flowers and berries; smell their gorgeous aromas and inspect them. As you walk in the fresh air with nature tell yourself that nature can heal you. You and I are a part of nature. Life and all the animals and plant life are the one vibrating cell of energy.

6) Turn off the mobile phone and play with your children. If you don’t have children go outside for the day and take a picnic basket and enjoy the outside world with your spouse or friends.

I have written a book which is full of fun and creative mind exercise that can recreate the way you viewed the world as a child and in turn you will look and feel younger in very little time. You will read true-life accounts of people who through working with the mind exercises have enjoyed remarkable healing, rejuvenation and spiritual experiences.

THE LIFE STOPPING CHANGE OF 2020

The lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic has enforced us to put a hold on our regular way of our life. It is the same for all us, which is most unusual, because normally things happen to us as individuals, say, the loss of a loved one, and that can change a person’s thinking and way of life, but this pandemic has caused a collective pause to life as we know it. The world has been subjected to the wrath of Nature herself, and never mind, be you queen or pauper; no one is impervious to her dark forces. However, there are different ways of looking at this interlude, and the result could conclude this historic period in our lifetime wasn’t all to do with negativity.

We all have self-harming habits that have been bullying us for a long time, and the lockdown, stopping us from shopping, playing sports, drinking in pubs, clubs, eating junk food, gambling on machines, gorging on exotic foods in restaurants, indulging in clandestine extra marital affairs, and all the luxuries we take for granted, has broken many vicious circles that imperceptibly ran our lives. The temptation to pursue many of our set routines has been denied us, and the key to our makeshift prison cell (home), has been confiscated.

But have you not seen a bright yellow sun, peeping over the horizon, symbolising to you that many wonderful things have come out of the lockdown period. Has there not been a complete re-evaluation of your life and how you have been conducting it? Have you found an extra supply of money weighing down your trouser pockets because of these restrictions binding you to the house?  The other day I got in my car for the first time in weeks; I noted I had a full tank of petrol; I had no way of holding back the smile that crept across my face. I had to own up to the fact, I had not missed sitting behind the wheel, squeezing it like a stress ball, and roaring like a fire-breathing dragon at motorists because I was late for work or stuck in traffic.

There has been a lot of negative news about married couples becoming abusive to each other, through spending concentrated time in the close confines of their home, and I am sure frustrations in families have boiled over, but there are two sides to every coin, and you can’t tell me that some relationships during lockdown haven’t seen the flames of romance rekindled through spending quality time together.

With teenagers there is a peer vs. family tug-of-war going on, and usually peers win because teenagers spend more time with their peers. They have much in common, such as music, schoolwork, dating and social media link-ups. It can appear to parents that their child is like a twig on the surface of a rippling brook flowing away into a distant horizon. During lockdown parents and children (teenagers) have been enforced to see more of each other and communicate in a physical sense rather than via mobiles and social media. In recent weeks the never ending stream of distractions for both parent and child have been eliminated, this has allowed parents and children to form new, stronger bonds and realise how much they have been missing through having hectic lifestyles.

On a spiritual level, the pandemic has been an awakening for the world as well as the individual, and ‘awakenings’ often leaves a person standing at the crossroads of life and making the choice to take a new path.  I just hope that when we eventually pick up from where we left off in life, we take some of our newly formed habits with us and uphold some of the values the lockdown has taught us. I know that I most certainly have reshaped my life during lockdown and I will be reluctant to go back to many of my old ways of living.

1) Write down what you feel were negatives in your life pre-lockdown.

2) Write down what you think have been the positives for you during the lockdown period.

3) Write down the positives you would like to take with you into post-lockdown.

THE UNKNOWN

Solid_white_bordered_svg (82)

Hobgoblins, dragons and suchlike, although frightening, fed our virile child imaginations. In later life we come to have no fear of the unknown. Adults recognise everything as either true or false; there are no hobgoblins in the cupboard. The innocent world of mythology was a dark world of surprise and absurdity in childhood; adults have no creepy absurdities, they always think they know what’s coming next. Reintroduce outrageous concepts and feed them one by one to your imagination. For instance, what would say is the greatest achievement of your life? Think carefully and then write about it. Let me tell you my greatest achievement:

YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT

Once upon a time I was a sup-microscopic microbe (a sperm), swimming against billions of sperms. I swam in what was undoubtedly the world’s largest shoal! One single microbe beats all the other microbes in the shoal to get first to the ovum (the female unfertilised egg cell) and then fertilise it. Why did I win the greatest fight of my life? Was I the one spirit waiting to be reincarnated? I often deliberate and thank my lucky stars that I won the greatest fight of my life.

VISUALIZATION FOR THE UNKNOWN

To achieve the unknown I begin with a familiar visualization: I’m walking over sand dunes at dawn; a heavy electrical storm crackles over the angry surf. Needles of rain make fast puddles of my footprints as I cross soggy sand dudes. Looking out from the cliff tops the dark beach is visible lurking in the shadows running up the shoreline. I want to stand before the crashing grey waves on the beach below. So I leap off the cliff edge and float majestically down towards the beach. It takes me ten times longer to reach the beach than it would a falling pebble. I remove my boots and wade into the rough outer limits of the sea. Suddenly from out of the depths something emerges. In a following flash of lightning standing before me is a gigantic reptilian! Leaving a vortex of water, it stands up on two legs in all its glory a hundred feet in the air. The creature’s head disappears roaming amidst the dark low clouds. The parting sea swishes around its ankles and tail. A sudden thump from my heart animates my legs. I run through shallow salt water with lead-weighted legs. I turn, and in the dim illumination stare into two orange pumpkins; they are the monster’s eyes! Magically I float upwards past the cliff face towards the storm clouds; up, and up and away till the coastal region looks like a map below me. Soon I’m up in space. It is dark and mysterious; yet I don’t feel alone. I’m correct, for in the distance there is a meditating Indian Yogi. I float towards his area and join him in meditation. Other Yogis in space meditate and send their healing energies down to the world. I remain for fifteen minutes before I journey back.

15 minutes later…

Now the surfs are calm and a soft breeze blows. I float down with the seagulls to the beach and lie under the hot sun. Tranquillity surrounds me. I enjoy the beautiful peacefulness. Create your own story by simply digressing from one of your regular visualisations. Search for unknowns in your life, e.g., get up one working morning and drive to the coast – who knows what will happen?

YOU CAN FEEL LIKE A CHILD AGAIN

Solid_white_bordered_svg (80)

We may not be children, and life as an adult certainly doesn’t amount to simplicity. However, we can take a leaf out of the child’s book and find ways to energize the brain and body in a similar way to how we did when we were young. What did you enjoy doing as a child? Let’s say you delighted in bike riding? If you don’t have a bike, see if you can borrow a bike from someone, or buy a second-hand one, and go out bike riding; you will feel the same exhilaration you felt when bike riding as a child.  Why not try it for yourself and see how uplifting it can be? Forget all your troubles for a while! Be like a child again.

AN ACTIVITY YOU PERFORMED AS A CHILD

Most of the things we do from day to day we have performed a thousand times before, such as, shaving, taking a shower, getting dressed and tying up our shoelaces; eating breakfast, driving to work, so on and so on. Not any of these routinely performed daily tasks are exactly stimulating. That’s why the brain coordinates the instructions for you to perform these task at almost an imperceptible level of consciousness.  It is a completely different ball game when you suddenly make the decision to go bike riding after decades have flown by since you last sat your bum on the saddle of a bike.  Now your brain has to go to its archives and find those ancient instructions that you painstakingly programmed as a child. So it may take a few minutes for your body to follow the old instructions, but after a wobbly start, you’ll soon be riding your bike down the road. Because you haven’t ridden a bike for so long, it will feel like a new operation.  The brain thrives on novel stimuli, and in turn, you will feel a sense of sheer joyfulness. Or put another way, you will experience pure childlike fun.

WRITE ABOUT HOW THE BIKE JOURNEY OR ANY OTHER ACTIVITY MADE YOU FEEL

When you arrive home, hopefully without grazes to your knees and elbows, write about how it made you feel to be back on a bike again. Make a note of anything that caught your attention on your journey. Jot down anything that you might read at a later date that will give you the buzz to go out bike riding again.

VISUALIZATION

You might think, but I am not well, I can’t go out bike riding or do many of the outdoor activities I enjoyed as a child.  Fear not, you will not be excluded from the game. If you practise visualizing yourself in action, enjoying your particular favourite activity as a child, your brain and body will respond in almost the exact way to actually performing the activity.

Sit quietly or lay down in your bed, gently close your eyes, and concentrate on your breathing – take some deep breaths and slowly exhale while concentrating on making sure the operation is performed as smoothly as possible. When you feel you are ready to go out to play, try to get an image in your mind of how you looked as a child. Then conjure up an image of the activity you want to perform, say bike riding, swimming, or tree climbing. Now try to see yourself performing the activity, Try to feel yourself in action. If at first you find it difficult to see inner images, don’t become too concerned, with regular practise inner sights will come to mind.

The impenetrable Bubble Routine

pizap.com15838725479133

NEGATIVE ENERGY

How often have you allowed another person to bring you down to their low level of frequency (dark energy)? When this happens the negative person feeds off your bountiful supply of positive energy. Or simply drags you down in the quagmire with them. There are a lot of negative people in this world. This charges the air with destructive energy. A black cloud of harmful energy can hang for years over regions in the world. Take Hong Kong and there demonstrations against China last year: what happened next? China went into lock-down with the corona-virus. This virus spread globally.

Unfortunately our world has more negative energy than positive energy. It is not only people posing the danger of exhausting your energy – simply turn on the TV and you’ll be bombarded with negative images of wars, terrorism, violent demonstrations, starving children, and much more. The most frightening thing is that we become hardened to the injustice and atrocities of this world. Dark energy is contagious and airborne.  People regularly transmit malign energy to one another.  Enter a negative person’s space and the chances are you’ll be contaminated. Then it can take a long time to find your natural waveband. indeed if you ever re-tune to your frequency.

POSITIVE ENERGY

Don’t get me wrong, the world isn’t all doom and gloom. We have seen the girl who walks in the room and all heads turn. She is magnetic. She oozes charisma from every pore her body. The men find her irresistible. Not in a sexual way, but purely for her uplifting personality. The wives raise an eyebrow, but they can’t help but like her too. She attracts people. She has almost a spiritual quality about her.  This person exudes positive energy. She is almost impossible to contaminate because she wears a suit of armour, in terms of positive energy.  We may not have her innate bubbly charisma, but we can protect ourselves against the lower realms where dark energies thrive. So, can we find a way to get out of this negative maze? Yes! We can shield ourselves from damaging energy. Yes! The Impenetrable Bubble Routine can serve as a defensive force field against the dark invaders. Introducing the Bubble into your life will enhance your powers of visualizing. It will bring you confidence when you feel threatened by negative energy.  It will bring you spiritual warmth. The Bubble could almost be thought of as Guardian Angel. So let’s perform The Impenetrable Bubble Routine.

Retire to your private place which can be either indoors or outdoors.  Check that you have enough room to stretch your arms in all directions. Stand up straight. Part your legs comfortably, lift your shoulders up, gently pull them back, and relax; the new alignment pleasantly lifts the rib-cage and liberates the lungs. Enjoy the pleasant release of pressure from the rib-cage area for a few moments, breathing gently like a baby.

The impenetrable Bubble Routine

When you are ready to begin this exercise raise your arms high above your head while placing the palms of your hands together so that you are making a long triangle. Imagine that you are now going to draw a huge circle around you with your index fingers acting as magic markers and that this will be a bubble in which you are going to perform all your new exercises.  While still holding the triangle shape with your raised arms, point your index fingers at the ready; without bending the arms lower them outwards so that they make the shape of a wooden cross; continue lowering them until the palms meet in the middle area of your body. Imagine that the magic markers continue all the way to the floor so that you’re standing in a bubble. Remain standing for a few moments imagining that you are standing in a large white bubble.

While standing in your newly created bubble inhale a full breath, and during a pause, imagine turning the breath crimson. Then slowly exhale whilst visualizing crimson vapour pouring from your mouth. Continue inhaling, and blowing out crimson vapour, gradually filling the bubble with crimson. If crimson vapour isn’t immediately seen, fear not, for this is normal. Dedication and faith allows you to visualise the crimson vapour, and with each exhalation you’re colouring the bubble crimson. Once mastered, if left under the starry vault, then you’d encircle yourself and colour the circle crimson to keep warm.  If you were left in the midday heat of the Sahara desert then you’d encircle yourself and colour the circle icy white. If in pain with disease you’d encircle yourself with purple-blue or aquamarine-green, the colours of healing energy. If confronted by negative people or negative images on TV, and so on, you’d encircle yourself and colour the circle pure purple, the colour of spirituality.

Try this exercise at home until you can feel as though you are standing in your protective circle. When you next go out shopping or visiting, before you leave home visualise the impenetrable bubble and fill it with the appropriate coloured vapour to protect you from negative energy. If you persevere with this exercise it will become natural to you to instantly produce your force field to protect you from negativity.  Read more about the Impenetrable Bubble in my book –
